Examination of the test results

What is examined

The Certification Team examines the test results submitted to ascertain their authenticity and to verify that all administrative and technical acceptance criteria are met.

The administrative checks are the following:

  • there was no Certification issued for the same type (except when the same type is re-tested with a new CTT version);
  • the CTT used by the test laboratory has a valid licence;
  • the manufacturer and the tester – if different – are both members of good standing of the DLMS UA;
  • in the case of third party testing, the license fee is paid.

The technical verification and acceptance criteria are the following:

  • the Test result .zip file includes the Report, the Log, the Line traffic, the CTI and the hash files, and that the hash value is correct;
  • an up-to-date version and release of the CTT and the COSEM object definitions file has been used;
  • the Logical Device Name of the Management Logical Device is syntactically correct and the Three Letter Manufacturer ID (AKA FLAG ID) matches the one registered for the manufacturer;
  • the test session has been started with "Run for Certification";
  • there are no FAILED test cases;
  • the reasons for INAPPLICABLE and INCONCLUSIVE test results are acceptable.

         EXAMPLE: The verdict on Selective access tests are INCONCLUSIVE if there are not enough entries in the buffer.

Preparation of the Certification

The Certification contains all relevant information on the IUT and provides a summary of the tests performed.

All information is strictly extracted from the Test Reports:

  • the type designation of the IUT;
  • the Management Logical Device Name;
  • the name of the manufacturer;
  • the CTT version used;
  • the name of the CTT licensee;
  • the COSEM object definition file used;
  • the media identifiers (abstract, electricity, gas…);
  • a summary of the test sessions made and the list of DLMS/COSEM features supported in each test session.
It is essential to be able to trace back the information in the Certification to the corresponding Test Results.

Therefore, if the Test Result has been submitted with incorrect data, a new test session has to be run.
