Why join DLMS?

Lead the way in the new smart ecosystem

By joining the DLMS User Association, companies and individuals not only get access to the DLMS Standard documents, but they also are part of a community that is looking to deliver value for the whole ecosystem through increased compatibility of technology.

All members have access to the DLMS Standard, which has been used for 20 years to guarantee interoperability, scalability, security and flexibility for the smart metering world and is already deployed on 200 million plus devices. The User Association is now pushing ahead with work on how this proven Standard can deliver the benefits of compatibility across the energy and water ecosystems - acting as the data bridge between consumers, networks and Distribution System Operators.

Members can participate in the Working Groups driving these technological developments in the fields of smart devices - and can certify their Devices via the DLMS Qualification Process which certifies for compliance and compatibility, creating a competitive advantage. Only Members participating in Working Groups have access the draft specifications discussed and defined in their respective Working Groups, giving them a substantial time-to-market advantage in launching innovative smart devices almost simultaneously as the new specification is launched to the market.

I want to take a driving role in the DLMS User Association - and play a central role in the development of smart device Standards for the future.

Promoter members have the right to participate at ALL levels of the DLMS UA, including Chairing the highly important Strategic, Technical and Qualification Boards. Promoter Members are expected to take a strategic role in driving forward the growth and success of the DLMS Standard across the globe. 

An Advanced Member can drive the formation of specific Working Groups and chair them, based on their interests, as well participate in Strategic, Technical and Qualification Boards and in all the Working Group. 

A Full Member has all the rights of the advanced member but cannot Chair any of the Working Groups nor participate in any of the Strategic, Technical or Qualification Boards.

I just want to be able to download the Standard and complete the Certification process:

An Adopter Member has the right to access all the working documents, including the latest versions of the Blue and Green books (the Specification) once officially released by the DLMS UA. They can also access the Yellow Book and the Qualification Process to certify products.

I work in a start-up or I am member or an Academic institution:

Academic membership is open to Academic institutions and start-ups with under 10 employees. This membership level offers start-ups and academies the same benefits as Adopter members but at lowered membership fees, in order to give access to the Standard and User Association to innovative groups with limited financial resources.

(1) Only Advanced and Full members elected as per Art.4.4.ii and Art.4.4.iii can apply for a DLMS UA Board of Directors seat and participate in the DLMS UA Board of Directors and/or chair DLMS UA Working Groups pending DLMS UA Board of Directors appointment approval.
